Charlie has been a Rotarian since 1993, and Tommie joined Rotary in 2004 when they chartered the Rotary Club of Kingwood.

Together, they serve as the 2019-2023 D5890 Public Image Committee Co-chairs, the District 5890 EarlyAct FirstKnight Co-Chairs and have served on multiple District 5890 committees.  They have home-hosted Rotary Youth Exchange students and Rotary Group Study Exchange (GSE) Team members, and served as Rotary Advisers for their club’s two Rotary Foundation Global Grant Scholars.

They’ve been awarded "District 5890 Rotarian Couple of the Year" and Charlie was awarded the 2015 "District 5890 Rotarian of the Year".  Tommie was awarded the "Small Rotary Club President of the Year" in 2008, and 2016, and "District 5890 Rotarian of the Year" in 2010.

At the 2020 Rotary Zone Institute, and again in 2021, they were awarded the Rotary Zone 25B Award for Public Image. 

At the upcoming Rotary International Convention in Houston, Rotary International’s Marketing & Branding Staff have invited Tommie to be a panelist during their Public Image Breakout Session.

On the Rotary International level, Tommie served as Co-Chair and was one of seven Rotarians serving on Rotary International’s 2015-2018 Rotaract & Interact Committee representing the 12 Rotary Zones in the USA, Canada & the Caribbean and reported to the Rotary International Board of Directors, and RI President.  She also served as a member of Rotary International’s Joint Young Leaders & Alumni Engagement Committee.  She was the 2018-2021 Rotary Zone 25B Assistant Public Image Coordinator.    

Together, they started an international freight forwarding company 41 years ago.  For over 24 years they have donated their export services to District 5890 for charity shipments of over 405 containers to the School of the Dump Project in Chinandega, Nicaragua, and the Rotary Books for the World Project.

Tommie and Charlie have two children, Jenna and Jared, and both were officers in their Interact club.  Jenna was also a Short-Term Rotary Youth Exchange Student, Rotaract Club President, District 5890 Rotaract Representative (Rotaract District Governor), and District ROTEX Chair.  Jenna is Past President of her Rotary Club of Houston Energy Corridor, serves as a Region 36/Zone 25B Assistant Rotary Coordinator for Membership.  She is currently an Assistant District Governor and Co-Chair of the District 5890 Global Grant Scholarship Committee.

Giving back to The Rotary Foundation is a high priority for them.  They are District 5890 PolioPlus Society Members, multiple Paul Harris Fellows, Paul Harris Society Members, Major Donor Level 4, and Level 10 White Hat Society members.
