July 3, 2020

In 24 years only once did our fundraising golf tournament get rained out, but 2020 is certainly a year to remember for two reasons.  First, we had to postpone due to Covid-19 which we were concerned we would have to have had canceled, but thanks to the kindness of The Riverbend Country Club, they gave us the chance to postpone and rebook.  We finally got a rebooking (to June 22) and we were able to re-market and move forward with the tournament.  Our turnout was predictably lower than desired but expected.  53 willing golfers arrived early in the morning and the shotgun start went off at 8:00 am.

Then the skies opened up after only two or three holes of golf.  Very drenched player came back to the clubhouse.
However, the good news is that Riverbend is offering a raincheck to each player (although you have to pay for the cart rental).

Even better still - our recipient, Second Servings Houston will get a nice check since we had good sponsorships and donations without a lot of player expenses.

Thank you again to Geoff Lanceley and Bob Geary for putting on another tournament to support our local community.

Next Year, the recipient will be the Weekley YMCA so mark your calendars for mid-April and let's try it again!!  25th!
