Celebrate 30 Years of Women in Rotary

I am grateful to be a member of Rotary so I have a vehicle to do service and make new friends.   I am particularly thankful for Beverly Denver for starting West U Rotary.  But women have not always been welcome in Rotary.   Like many other struggles, it had to be won in the courts.   Rotary is celebrating the anniversary of women's entrance into Rotary with events around the world.  

 

 

District 5890 is hosting a celebration on Saturday, October 1 at 6:30 pm at the Omni Hotel, 4 Riverway off Woodway. Keynote speaker will be the FIRST woman in Rotary (also the first woman CLUB PRESIDENT) Sylvia Whitlock from California. She helped pave the way for the tens of thousands of women to join Rotary. Tickets are $75 each, a table is $1000.  Surely we can have at least one table. Let Carol L know if you wish to attend and look for an email soon.
