ROTARY CLUB OF
WEST U (HOUSTON)

2022-2023 28th Year

John Thornton and Youth Exchange Student, Emeline, from Belgium.

Hello West U Rotarians and Guests,

I'm writing this from the beautiful country of Belize.

If you ever go on an international trip with Jack Wallace, you're in for a treat.  I'm in Belize with Jack and 9 other Rotarians building our house for a very special lady Jessica.  Jessica is a 44 yo woman who has her granddaughter, 2 daughters, and a special needs son, all living in a house the size of an outside storage shed (12x8).    You can't imagine what her living conditions are like.  She broke down in tears when she learned that she was receiving a house from Rotary.  This is what makes Rotary so special.   Thank you West U Rotary for making this possible.

I can't emphasize how going on this trip will change your life.  Ask any of the Rotarians that went: Cecile, Ralph, Jack, Steven Smith, AJ, Lucy, Greg Faldyn, Bentley, and Belinda.  What an outstanding group.  I'm sure you'll hear more about this later.

I know we have a Super Bowl party this Sunday and a Second Servings service project on Monday, February 13th at Law Harrington House from 1045-1245.  You'll receive more details later this week.

Thanks again West U Rotary for a trip I'll never forget.

I will see you at Pico's Thursday.

Thanks.
John Thornton
President, 2022-23
